Which formatting is preserved when translating Word documents?
SimplifyAI parses the underlying DOCX structure, preserves common character and paragraph styles, and handles tables, footnotes, endnotes, comments, headers and footers, text boxes, numbered lists, tables of contents, and hyperlinks. Document complexity varies, so a final check is still recommended after download.
Are legacy .doc files supported?
Currently, only .docx files based on Office Open XML are supported directly. Please save legacy .doc files as .docx in Microsoft Word or compatible office software before uploading them for translation.
Can I control terminology and style before translation?
Yes. The system first extracts terms and suggests translations. You can edit, delete, or add terms, specify tone, style, and context requirements, then confirm to start translation.
Can I make manual edits after machine translation is complete?
Yes. Edit translations paragraph by paragraph in the online review interface, then regenerate the DOCX based on your revisions. You can also collaborate with external translators through bilingual Excel or XLIFF.
Do I need to stay on the page while a long document is translated?
No. Long documents are split into batches and translated in the cloud, with progress saved continuously. After submitting a job, you can close the page and return to the job list later to view the results or download the file.
Will text in images be translated?
The current public DOCX translation pipeline primarily processes editable text in Word structures and supports text in embedded Visio graphics. OCR translation for text in standard bitmap images is coming soon.
Will mathematical equations in the document be changed?
Content in Word equations (OMML) is not sent for translation and is preserved as is in the translated document. Explanatory text around equations is translated normally.
